May 15, 2010 – Given on the Green. This will be an elegant evening on the Village Green with intimate ambiance showcasing fine food, spirits and entertainment. Many elements will be modeled after “Tavern on the Green” in Central Park. All festivities will take place on the historic Library & Archives grounds under a magical menagerie of beautiful lights. Guests will be invited to enjoy a “progressive style” evening. Each guest will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite tent, appetizer, entree and dessert throughout the evening. The winner will be awarded the “GonG” trophy at the end of the evening. The event will be held on the grounds of the Library & Archives, from 7-10 p.m., and the cost is $75 per person. This is the premier fundraising event for the Given Library and Tufts Archives for 2010, a privately-funded organization which receives no government funds to operate.

To elaborate a little on this event we have 8 tents that will be decorated by local designers who will be paired with restaurants/caterers to complement the tent design. Some of the tent themes are:

- “Silver, Soda & Sandhills, a Life Well Spent” (a tribute to the Tufts family) which is the welcome tent and is done by Maggie Dutton of Southern Chic (there is no food in this tent)
- “Putting on the Dog…Little Bites” by the Village Design Group, paired with Chef Nathan from Ironwood Café
- Asian theme done by Leader Design Studio, paired with Mark Elliott from Elliott’s on Linden
- “Enchanted Garden” by Johnsye White and Charles Goforth, paired with Wolcott’s
- “The Jewel in the Crown”, an Indian theme
- “Sweet Dreams”, designed by Ely Interior Design, paired with desserts from The Bakehouse, Sweet Feed and the new bakery opening in Pinehurst this weekend, Kraz

We will have a dance floor, and music will be provided by Lynn Nelson and the Fred Bush Quintet. There will be multiple bars, and plenty of port-a-potties! Tickets are limited to 300.

Charleston Tour

Hello, PWN Members!
Your fellow PWN Members, Marva Kirk, Marian Caso and Helen Von Salzen wish
to announce the following upcoming tour. If you have to work on those dates,
you might want to mention the tour to a friend or relative because it
should be something truly unique and special.

Kirk Tours and Lady Bedford’s Tea Parlour present a CHARLESTON TEA AND
GARDEN TOUR, with Marian Caso and Helen Von Salzen, May 17-19, 2010. This
exciting tour will feature visits to historic indigo and rice plantations with
house museums and stunning gardens, a carriage tour of Charleston and a visit
to the famed “Mrs. Whaley’s Charleston Garden” and tea at Fuschia Emporium
and a morning at Charleston Tea Plantation, the only tea plantation on this
continent.

Thanks,
Helen O. Von Salzen, M.Ed.
